Registration open for the 2026 season!

This page describes all the programs that are being offered by the South Ottawa Mustangs in 2026.  If you or your child is looking for something amazing to do this year, you have come to the right place.  

South Ottawa Mustangs reserve the right to combine or split any programs listed below due to registration numbers.

COACHES & VOLUNTEERS

Mustangs LogoIt is impossible to offer the programs listed below without coaches and volunteers.  Your contribution helps families from across the community have the opportunity to learn new skills, make some life long bonds and be part of a team.   Without you, the program you are looking register your child for may not exist.   As a volunteer you will receive free training and support to help you grow your skills as a leader

Still not sure, because "I don't know football"?  That's OK!  Our recreational programs include an entire mix of participants from the never played before to the more experienced.  We are a team and are here to support you "finding your legs".  As the responsible adult stepping out of your comfort zone, you are a role model who will help the participants grow and learn in all sorts of ways.  You will be provided with all the tools you need to create fun and succeed. You are not alone.

WINTER SKILLS & DRILLS (Recreational)

Program details: Mustangs LogoNCAFA Flag Logo
Offered in partnership with National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA), come join us and work on the fundamentals that make every football player great in a supportive, family friendly environment.

8 sessions (75 minutes) (January 18, January 25, February 1, February 8, February 22, March 1, March 8, and March 15)  in the Gymnasium at Hillcrest High School.

Girls ONLY (ages 10-17) $145

All players must pay the appropriate Football Ontario and Canada membership fees in addition to these costs as part of registration in order to be eligible to participate in our programs.

SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL (RECREATIONAL)

Program details:

5 indoor training sessions (April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, May 10) in the Gymnasium at Hillcrest High School.
Up to 10 outdoor practice sessions (Rental contract depending, Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Thursday evenings from May 15 to June 24.
Up to 10 games (Weekends (exact times to be confirmed) against other NCAFA teams from across the Ottawa Valley).

YEAR-ROUND FLAG FOOTBALL (COMPETITIVE)

Program details:Mustangs Logo
Year round competitive flag football teams of various ages.  These teams practice and play together from January 2026 to November 2026.    This program is designed for athletes committed to excelling in the sport. This comprehensive program offers rigorous training, competitive play, and skill development throughout the year, ensuring players are always at their peak performance. For those who are not quite ready for the main squad, the program includes a dedicated practice squad for each group. This squad provides an opportunity for developing players to hone their skills, gain valuable experience, and work towards joining the elite team(s) but at a lower cost to the participant.  

The exact events and costs to participate in our competitive program depends on many factors, below are the base fees that you should be prepared for should you participate fully in the program. 

Teams available:  Girls Under 14, Girls Under 16, Girls Under 18, Open Under 16.

(includes Indoor and outdoor training programs, team gear and equipment fees, a budget for tournament and league registrations fees)

Not included in the cost are any optional travel and lodging expenses that may be incurred to participate in tournaments outside of the Ottawa area.  

Players may be invited to join the player program at any point in the year at a lower total cost which is representative of the base costs of the program + any remaining costs outstanding for the year.

Autumn Flag FOOTBALL (Recreational)

Offered in partnership with National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA), come join us and work on the fundamentals that make every football player great and scrimmage amongst the participants in a supportive, family friendly environment.

8 sessions (75 minutes) starting in September 2026.

TACKLE FOOTBALL

Give your child the ultimate football experience! Our Tackle Football program is designed to build confidence, strength, and teamwork while teaching the fundamentals of the game in a safe, structured environment. Kids will learn proper techniques, develop athletic skills, and create lasting friendships—all while having an absolute blast on the field. Up to 35 outdoor practice sessions (Rental contract depending, weekday evenings from May to October.

MUSTANGS TERRITORY (TACKLE FOOTBALL ONLY)

You must reside in our NCAFA assigned territory to play tackle football with the South Ottawa Mustangs or have been released by your home football club.

The current South Ottawa Mustangs boundary is as follows:

From Highway 417, south along the Rideau River to Hunt Club, east to Bank St. then North on Bank St to the CNR rail line. East on the rail line to the 417 at the Walkley interchange; north and then west on the 417 to the Rideau River. (shown as maroon on the map)

The South Ottawa Mustangs also share a registration boundary with two other clubs:

East of Bronson (and Dow's Lake) to the Vanier Parkway, north of McArthur Ave, extending further east to St Laurent Boulevard and bounded on the north by the Ottawa River.  (shown as green on the map)
